Recruitment can be an overwhelming and confusing experience. With so many things to do and people to meet, it can seem that everyone is pulling you in different directions. With so much pressure, it can be easy to give in to the expectations that others set for you and difficult to make the best decision for yourself. This is just what the Panhellenic Council is here for: to help you through the process of recruitment and to ensure that everything runs smoothly throughout the school year and into Formal Recruitment Weekend.
The women of the Southwestern University Panhellenic Council are Greek women themselves; there are two delegates from each sorority on campus. Therefore, they know what you are going through as they have been through recruitment before. As Panhellenic Delegates, they disassociate themselves from their respective sororities so that you might have an unbiased source to go to for help and advice. Do not be afraid to approach them with questions and problems – that is what they are here for!
Southwestern practices deferred recruitment, meaning we hold our formal recruitment weekend in January rather than August, like most schools. One of the benefits of this is that it allows first-year and independent women to take their time getting to know the women of each sorority by attending informal recruitment events held throughout the Fall semester. Remember to be yourself, keep an open mind, go to more than one recruitment event per sorority, and that Panhellenic will always be there for you!
